About Head Start
The Head Start program is a federally funded educational, health, and social program designed to work with families who are economically disadvantaged.
- The students served are 3 and 4 years old on or before August 31st.
- All students selected for the Head Start program must live in the Onslow County Schools district attendance area.
- Eligibility is determined using Federal income guidelines. (Families must be at or below 130% of the federal poverty level or receiving assistance - including SNAP/TANF child-only payments/SSI or the child is experiencing homelessness or foster care.
Family Engagement Opportunities
The Family Service Team assist and supports families by providing information about community resources, child and family development and providing opportunities for parents/families to participate in various workshops and activities. These activities promote independence, growth in knowledge and confidence, thus empowering families to become their own advocates.
