Head Start Policy Council

Head Start parents and families are encouraged to participate in monthly parent committee meetings at Thompson Early Childhood Center.  The parent committee meetings are scheduled at a time that is convenient for families and is facilitated by parents.  Parents that attend the parent committee meetings nominate a "Chair" for the committee meetings and a "Parent Representative" for the Head Start Policy Council meetings.  The Family Service team staff attends the parent committee meetings to provide support and resources as requested by parents and families.   Classroom teachers plan and facilitate "Celebration of Learning" activities on a regular basis and invite parents/families to join their child in the classroom for these activities. 

The Head Start Policy Council meets on a monthly basis.  The Council consists of Head Start Parent Representatives from each Head Start site, Head Start staff, and community members.
