A. Vision Screening

Vision screening is done by the nurse within 30 days from the first day of school attendance.  The plusoptix machine is used to measure your child's near and far vision, pupil sizes and alignment.  It is painless and takes less than a minute to take your child's eye measurement .  If your child does not pass the vision screening, the nurse will send home a referral letter for your child to see an eye doctor for evaluation and management (if necessary) of your child's eye problem.  It is important to bring the referral form with you when your child sees the eye doctor.  The eye doctor needs to complete the back page of the referral form and return the completed form to your school nurse.
